Beijing Postal University Alumni Association and Hangzhou Futong
Group jointly held the Symposium on Strategy of IT Industry for
WTO Challenge and Alumni of 1969 Get-Together of Beijing Postal
University in Fuyang City from 1 January through 3 January.
Beijing Postal University is a key national higher education
institution, with IT information technology as its focus. The
university specializes in industrial engineering, with its various
departments branched into business management, liberal arts and
sciences. Founded in 1955, the university's predecessor was Beijing
Postal College, the first higher education institution of its
kind in China dedicated to postal services and technology.
Over 300 alumni of the year 1969 convened in Fuyang from all
over China. Distinguished guests in attendance of the opening
ceremony were Lin Jintong, president of Beijing Postal University,
Zhong Yixin, director of the academic committee of the university,
Shen Wenjiang, member of Jiangxi Provincial People's Congress
and director-general of Jiangxi Provincial Communications Association,
Shi Duanxing, director of Zhejiang Alumni Association and CEO
of Oriental Telecommunication Group, Hu Wangshan, secretary of
CPC committee of Zhejiang Telecommunication Co. Ltd, Sun Jianhua,
mayor of Fuyang City, Wang Jianyi, president of Hangzhou Futong
Group, and Xu Tongmao, president advisor.
On behalf of the company, President Wang Jianyi extended warm
welcome to guests attending the alumni get-together of Beijing
Postal University, and expressed warm-hearted congratulation on
the opening of the Symposium on Strategy of IT Industry for WTO
Challenge. He briefed the guests on the company's general development
and successful research and development of Optical Fiber Prefabricated
Rod. Mr. Xu Tongmao, president advisor, addressed the meeting
on the topic of research and production of the optical fiber prefabricated
rod.
A donation and appointment ceremony was held at the meeting.
In order to support Beijing Postal University and further the
cooperation on research, development and training between Futong
Group and Beijing Postal University, Wang Jianyi donated 1.5 million
(including 600,000 yuan for designated projects) on behalf of
Hangzhou Futong Group to the Education Foundation of Beijing Postal
University. Meanwhile, Lin Jintong, president of Beijing Postal
University, presented to the company a bronze tablet with an inscription
that reads "Contribution to education benefits generations".
President Lin Jintong also issued a letter of appointment to President
Wang Jianyi of Futong Group as part-time professor for the university.
Following the ceremony of donation and appointment, President
Lin Jintong delivered a special academic report, which was highly
appreciated by experts and professors present. He also briefly
talked about the status quo of the university as well as the development
plan for the next few years. Guests were proud of and excited
by the remarkable progress the university has made in recent years.
The alumni also visited the production base of the Futong during
the two days of the meeting.
